What you Need to Know About the SRAR

The SRAR is a list of every grade in every class you took for high school credit. More and more universities now ask students to complete the self-reported academic record (SRAR) instead of requiring a transcript during the application process.

While it’s a bit of extra work for students, filling out the SRAR once and then sharing it with colleges that accept it means that the application may be completed faster since you don’t have to wait for a counselor to send your transcript. You may also hear back more quickly from universities with rolling admissions.

Pro-tip:
Fill out the SRAR over the summer when you have extra time! It’s stressful to try to fill it out when you’re trying to submit an application.

Preparing to complete the SRAR:

1. Make sure you have access to your unofficial transcript or your online report cards. You will need this information to complete each section of the SRAR.

2. Find a quiet space with reliable internet as filling out the SRAR requires focus.

3. If possible, recruit a parent or trusted adult to help. Having another person read the grades to you while you enter them in to the SRAR can make the data entry process more efficient.

4. Use the most updated version of Google Chrome or Firefox.

5. Make sure to read and follow the directions exactly.

While filling out the SRAR is a tedious extra step for students, it gives you control over when your courses and grades have been submitted to the colleges that accept the SRAR.

The SRAR has a
YouTube channel with instruction videos for all parts of the SRAR. It might be helpful to review the videos before you fill it out. If you have questions while filling out the SRAR, use this link to find helpful information or contact SRAR for help.
