I am a published poet and educator from Miami with over a decade of professional tutoring experience. I have taught English and writing in classrooms across every grade level — from pre-kindergarten through college — both in the United States and abroad, and have tutored professionally since 2012. In addition, I have spent the last decade in the nonprofit sector, specifically working in fundraising and event production.
I fervently believe that education has transformational power, both on an individual and societal level, and that personalized instruction and attention is valuable, if not necessary, to that process. In sessions, I strive to cultivate an open, Socratic, creative environment where my students can feel empowered to take risks, do hard things, and redefine their academic identities in a positive and expansive way. Everyone has the capacity to be a good writer and storyteller, and it is my goal to prove that to each of my students.
I am currently at work writing my first full-length collection of poems. When not teaching or writing, I can be found baking sourdough bread, scouring the local thrift store racks for unique vintage finds, and working in an independent bookstore here in D.C. — shout out to Solid State Books!
