Julie Richie, M.F.A

EDUCATIONAL CONSULTANT

“Thank you for all the college help in the past year! It feels good to have it over with early. I know some people who have been scrambling. I couldn’t have done it without you; thank you so much!”

— Student, Class of 2023

Julie easily connects with and empowers students through her individualized, strengths-based approach to college coaching. She quickly hones in on each student's unique learning style, and she incorporates positive encouragement—along with accountability—into each student's college search, application, and essay-writing process.

"It is such a privilege to work with teenagers and help guide them to the next stage of their lives. I love helping students overcome their stress and anxiety about college by focusing on the next step and empowering them to take the lead in their own college journey.

"I am passionate about researching and visiting colleges and sharing that knowledge with students to help them find the right college for them. I aim to make the college application process fun and allow students to learn about themselves through self-reflection. It's especially rewarding to coach students through uncovering their most compelling stories, and then capitalize on their unique writing voice in their essays. When students reach out to tell me that they are thriving in the college they chose, I feel like I have played a small part in launching them into their bright futures."

Julie earned a BA in political science from Brown University and an MFA in creative writing from Lesley University. She brings 20 years of editorial and communications experience to her educational consulting practice. As a member of IECA, TACAC, and the Learning Disabilities Association, she regularly attends conferences to stay current on college admissions trends and visits many college campuses every year. A mom of two adult sons, Julie enjoys baking, walking her black Lab, Reacher, reading, and traveling with her husband.

"Julie is probably the ONLY reason our son applied to and was actually accepted. She got it done!."
