Jeff Doyle

COLLEGE COACH

Dr. Jeff Doyle has over 35 years of leadership experience at universities, including 28 years at the U. of Virginia, Baylor U., and Appalachian State U. His job titles have included Dean of Students, Assistant Vice President for Student Life, and Executive Director for Student Support. He is currently the Director of Accreditation, Planning, and Institutional Effectiveness at Marymount University.

Most of Jeff's work has focused on improving college student success by creating robust educational environments grounded in care-based mentoring and leadership rooted in planning, implementing, and assessing structures and systems of excellent service to others.

Jeff has taught 50+ courses on organizational behavior, student success, and the business, leadership, and finance of higher education. He has a Ph.D. in higher education administration, a master’s degree in counseling, and a bachelor’s degree in biology, all from the U. of Virginia. During his time at UVA, Jeff competed on the men’s volleyball team, volunteered regularly, and worked for the Federal Executive Institute.

Jeff's other institutional experiences include: Shenandoah U., U. of Texas, Texas Christian U., Florida State U., SMU, Eastern Mennonite U., Liberty U., U. of Lynchburg, and Salisbury U. Jeff is an Eagle Scout, HS Valedictorian, and former MVP of high school cross-country, basketball, and swimming teams.

Jeff’s approach to mentorship is rooted in helping students find the intersection of the answers to three questions: 1) What do you love doing? 2) What are you (or could you be) good at doing? 3) Where do you want to do good in the world? He leads by asking questions, listening carefully, and personalizing support and guidance.

His work is guided by his personal mission statement: To love others like there is no tomorrow and learn more every day. To focus on his best effort, to be fun to be with, and to be faithful in all things.

To leave a lasting impact that encourages people to live their best lives. This mission is informed and pursued by Jeff’s four core values: Grace for Others, Gratitude for Life, Humility in Learning, and Hope for a Better Day.

In his spare time, Jeff enjoys learning new things, being outside, cycling, pickleball, and spending time with loved ones.
