College Essay and Application Coach (part time)

College MatchPoint is a growing educational consulting company based in Austin, Texas. We are hiring a College Essay and Application Coach to work in our Austin office, as well as virtual coaches.


KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Coach students through outlining, drafting, editing college essays
Coach students through the college resume process
Assist students with college application questions
Strong ability to work on tight deadlines
Respond quickly to students
Ability to connect with students in a confident, calming manner
Track student progress 
Evening and weekend work hours are required

QUALIFICATIONS

Must have experience teaching writing with high school or college students

Work independently

Strong communication skills

Bachelor’s degree required

Exceptional attention to detail

Ability to approach problems both logically and creatively

Ability to perform multiple assignments without immediate supervision

Must have availability outside traditional business hours

Master’s or PhD degree is a plus

Familiarity with Google Docs

College admissions experience is a plus

Compensation: Part time - hourly rate depending on experience.

Hours: 15- 20 hours- some evenings and weekends

Program Specialist

College MatchPoint is a growing college and career consulting company. We are currently hiring a Program Specialist to join our team.

Program Specialist
The program specialist acts as a coordinator in developing, implementing, and executing programs that are designed to resolve certain problems in our work with students and families. Across a wide variety of projects, the program specialist monitors progress to ensure the project is on schedule to be completed by the deadline. The program specialist is a detail-oriented individual who possesses high attention to detail and thrives in our collaborative team environment.

This position requires a positive and friendly attitude, great client service skills, and an understanding of the special relationship between parents and their college-bound students. Candidate must have at least one year experience in a client service position, have good computer skills, attention to detail, multi-tasking, and be comfortable working with high school students and their parents.

A bachelor’s degree is required for this position, as is expertise with project management tools, the Google application suite, and client management email communication tools. All candidates must have availability outside traditional business hours.

Project Management
Maintaining the Trello project board system
Delivering tracking for projects and budgets
Handling client needs and resolving/escalating client questions, concerns or issues

Student Work
Developing student's essay & application plans, based on the student college list
Assisting students with completing applications
Organizing in-person & online events with current clients and potential clients
Researching college programs, summer programs, internships and career opportunities
Coordinating in-office application sessions
Guiding students through the student resume process

We are currently hiring full and part time college consultants to join our team.We are a dynamic team-based company, always looking for ways to better serve our clients. Skills and background required for this role include:

  • An undergraduate  degree (graduate degree preferred)

  • Experience in college counseling or college admissions

  • Proven, exceptional writing skills

  • Strong attention to detail and outstanding project management skills

  • Comfort working in an entrepreneurial, small-company environment

  • Ability to thrive in a team environment

  • Good sense of humor combined with the ability to work in a high stress environment

  • Highest ethical standards

  • At least five years of work experience or combination of work experience and graduate school

Job Responsibilities

  • Coaching students a caseload of 30-50 students working on students' academic and extracurricular profiles

  • Working closely with students on essay development and all written materials, while providing constructive feedback on essay topics, structure and writing

  • Conveying expertise in all areas of college admissions

  • Working some evening and weekend hours

  • Ability to handle high-stress situations and interactions
