Born and raised in Kansas City, KS, Jesi received her bachelor's degree in the humanities from Yale University. After college, she moved from the East Coast to Texas to attend graduate school at UT Austin and to work as an independent admissions coach. She received her master’s degree in English literature in 2014 and is currently completing her Ph.D. in 20th-century British literature. At UT, Jesi has taught six undergraduate courses in the English and Rhetoric departments and currently works as a consultant in the University Writing Center. In her free time, she can usually be found exploring Austin with her new puppy or curling up on the couch with her cat and a good book.

Jesi has been part of the College MatchPoint team since May 2016. “Nothing brings me greater joy than teaching. I love working one-on-one with students over the course of weeks or months, coaxing them through their initial feelings of frustration (‘I don’t have anything to say!’) and into a greater sense of confidence in their writing. Writing college essays shouldn’t feel like pulling teeth. With the right blend of humor, encouragement, and constructive feedback, this experience can be an exciting chance for students to reflect on who they are, what they value, and what kind of people they hope to become.”
