Lisa Bain Carlton, M. Ed.

Lisa Bain Carlton connects students and families to a college that fits. This includes finding a college that matches a student’s academic and personal profile as well as the family budget.
No two students or families are exactly alike. This is why Lisa takes thoughtful care in getting to know each student and his or her family. Through her extensive travels to college campuses across the country, Lisa looks for specific colleges that match the student’s skills and interests, as well as the family’s financial needs. She collaborates with other educational consultants around the U.S. to give her clients access to the best minds in the college admissions field. In addition, Lisa is sought out by other consultants for her expertise and she teaches in University of California, Irvine, College Counseling Certificate Program. Lisa takes great pride in sharing her knowledge with new consultants entering the field.
For more than 25 years, Lisa has served multiple roles in the field of education, including in-depth counseling with adolescents and their families. Many adolescents in Dallas county participated in her award-winning career-development program for high school students. Lisa worked in higher education at Southern Methodist University, advising college students. She also served as consultant for the School’s Attuned Program and is highly skilled in working with students who have learning differences and mental health challenges.
Lisa formed Austin, Texas-based College MatchPoint in 2008. The College MatchPoint team has successfully guided hundreds of students through the college admissions and application process. One of Lisa's greatest joys has been bringing such a talented group of professionals together.
Lisa earned her Master’s degree in Counseling and Student Services with honors from the University of North Texas, and a Bachelor’s of Business Administration from Texas A&M University. Currently, Lisa is a Professional Member of IECA, the premier professional association for educational consultants and she also serves on the IECA Board of Directors. She is a frequent speaker at national conventions and loves collaborating with colleagues from around the country.
In her spare time, Lisa loves swimming at Deep Eddy and is always looking for an excuse to visit New Orleans, where her two daughters live.

Bob Carlton is a developer of young people. He is equal parts cheerleader and challenger. He loves helping students discover their interests and passions. His vast career experience in both start ups and traditional businesses provides our students with real world examples about future job opportunities.
Bob has been traveling to college campuses for over 30 years. He started his career in higher education publishing and has collaborated with hundreds of professors across the country. He is a frequent speaker on higher education including SXSWedu and EDUCAUSE.
Bob was the President of HarperCollins Higher Education Division and was on the launch team for CourseSmart. He has served on the leadership team for Sapling Learning, the leading online STEM homework provider. Bob is passionate and knowledgeable about the in's and out's of both the STEM and business fields. He guides our students who are interested in these growing fields, with a focus on matching their career goals with the college search process.
In college, Bob was a highly sought after Statistics tutor. He developed a solid small business by teaching groups of fellow students how to "out smart" the famous business school weed out course.
Bob is a pop culture buff and can match any teen on current music. On Saturdays, you will find Bob biking around the Austin while listening to podcasts.
Bob grew up in Dallas where he met his high school sweetheart, now wife, Lisa Bain Carlton. Bob graduated from Texas A&M University in three years with a BBA in Marketing and Business Analysis. He attended the IECA Summer Institute and is a member of HECA. Bob and Lisa have two daughters.
Jen Hendricks, M.F.A. Creative Writing
Jen is a lifelong learner and educator who started her career as a teacher in Connecticut. Before becoming a consultant, she taught literature and writing and was a class advisor to students at public and private schools in Connecticut for over 20 years. Most recently, she worked in London advising International Baccalaureate students on applying to universities in both the United Kingdom and the United States. She has a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Sarah Lawrence College and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Arizona. She is also an associate member of IECA. As a mother of three teens who have attended both large public and small private schools, Jen knows what it is like to navigate different school systems and cultures.
Jen loves helping young adults discover and develop their best selves. “Young adults at this point in their lives can feel both excited and overwhelmed by what is in front of them. I enjoy listening to my students’ stories and helping them to communicate and clarify their goals and explore what is most important for them as they move forward into the larger world. I feel that my main job is to educate and support students in this process of self-discovery so that they can feel confident, relaxed, and excited about their choices for the future.”
Born in Amarillo on an air force base, Jen has traveled extensively her whole life, but she is proud to call Texas home. When she is not researching and visiting universities or watching her son’s soccer games, she enjoys walking her lab, hiking the trails around Austin, reading, and enjoying Austin’s music venues with her husband.
Allyson Randall, M.S. Adult and Organization Development

Allyson is a passionate educator, mentor and writer who grew up in a military family and was raised in Japan, Washington, D.C., Hawaii, and Arizona before moving to Austin in the fourth grade. She has an undergraduate liberal arts honors degree from Plan II at UT Austin as well as a B.A. in Latin American Studies. She spent a 18 months as an exchange student with Spanish Heritage during high school and is fluent in Spanish. Her M.S. is in Adult Learning and Organizational Development from Johns Hopkins University.
Allyson has worked as a classroom teacher, university professor and university program administrator. At Cal State San Marcos she directed the Teacher Continuing Education program and coordinated training for teachers all over California. During the summers she led the Cal State Advanced Placement Summer Institute, which trained and certified hundreds of AP teachers from all over the world. Allyson has taught a variety of courses at the university level. In every role it is her love for helping students identify and achieve their goals that has inspired her.
She finds assisting students with the college admission process especially enjoyable and rewarding. “I love working with teenagers. They are my favorite people. In this job I get to hear all about students’ dreams for the future and then help them take the first few steps on that path. It doesn’t get much better than that!”
When Allyson isn’t at College MatchPoint, she enjoys spending time exploring and enjoying Austin with her two boys and attending musical theater performances. She has the unique honor of being the mother of a teenager and a toddler. This past summer she taught one to drive while the other was learning to walk! A
