Lisa Bain Carlton, connects students and families to a college that fits! This includes finding a college that matches a student’s academic and personal profile as well as the family budget.

No two students or families are exactly alike. This is why Lisa takes thoughtful care in getting to know each student and their families. Through her extensive travels to college campuses, Lisa looks for specific colleges that match the student’s skills and interests and the family’s financial needs. She collaborates with other consultants around the country to give her clients access to the best minds in the field of college admissions.

For more than 25 years, Lisa has served multiple roles in the field of education, including in-depth counseling with adolescents and their families. Many adolescents in Dallas County participated in her award winning career-development program for high school students. Lisa worked in higher education at Southern Methodist University, advising college students. She also served as consultant for the School’s Attuned Program and is highly skilled in working with students who have learning differences and mental health challenges.

Lisa formed College MatchPoint in 2009.  She has successfully guided hundreds of students through the college process.  She is considered an expert in placing students with learning differences and is sought out by families nationwide for this expertise.  In addition, she isadept at helping families find colleges that are affordable.

Lisa earned her Master's degree in Counseling and Student Services with honors from the University of North Texas and a Bachelor’s of Business Administration from Texas A&M University. Additionally, she obtained a Certificate in College Counseling from the UCLA College Counseling Certification Program, Finally, Lisa is a Professional Member of IECA, the premier professional association for educational consultants.

Bob Carlton

Co- Founder & Educational Consultant

Bob' Carlton is a developer of young people. He is equal parts cheerleader and challenger.  He loves helpingthem discover their interests and passions.  His vast career experience provides our students with real world examples about future job opportunities. 

Bob has been traveling to college campuses for over 30 years.  He started his career in higher education publishing and has collaborated with hundreds of professors across the country.   He is a frequent speaker on higher education including SXSWedu and EDUCAUSE.

Bob was the President of HarperCollins Higher Education Division, and most recently, has servedson the leadership team forSapling Learning, the leading online STEM homework provider.  Bob is passionate and knowledgeable about the in's and out's of STEM fields. He guides our students who are interested in these growing fields.  

In college, Bob was a highly sought after Statistics tutor.  He developed a solid small business by teaching groups of fellow students how to "out smart" the famous business school weed out course.

Bob is a pop culture buff and can match any teen on current music.  On Saturdays you will find Bob biking around the lake while listening to podcasts.  

Bob grew up in Dallas where he met his high school sweet heart, now wife, Lisa Bain Carlton. Bob graduated from Texas A&M Universityin three years with a BBA where in Marketing and Business Analysis.  Bob and Lisa have two daughters. 

 

Laura Beerits, M. A.

College MatchPoint Writing Coach

Laura Beerits grew up on the coast of Maine and attended Middlebury College in Vermont. After college, Laura worked in the Office of the Provost at NYU. She has a master's degree in Rhetoric and is now pursuing her PhD in American literature at UT Austin. Laura teaches writing classes for undergraduates and pedagogy classes for new graduate students at UT. She is currently writing a dissertation on contemporary American coming-of-age novels.

Alexis  Webster, M. A.

College MatchPoint Admissions Specialist

A Northeastern transplant, Alexis grew up in New England and attended Connecticut College. She honed her writing and editing skills working in publishing and advertising in NYC prior to obtaining her Master's in Teaching from Brown University. Alexis taught high school English and History before a move to Austin and her latest career: juggling part-time work with full-time parenting. 

Sally Treanor, M. A.

College MatchPoint Writing Coach

Born and raised in San Francisco, Sally earned her Bachelor's at Stanford University, where she studied Creative Writing and Religious Studies. After a brief stint living on the beach in Hawaii, she moved to Austin to attend grad school at UT. Armed with a Masters in English Literature, she then headed back to California, where she worked for an education start-up and taught high school English, all while maintaining her ten-year tutoring career. 

Charles Logan, M.F.A.

College MatchPoint Writing Coach

Charles hails from Chicagoland and he firmly believes this year is the year the Chicago Cubs will win the World Series. He earned an undergraduate degree in English Literature and Teacher Education from Middlebury College and a Master of Fine Arts in Fiction Writing from Brooklyn College. He currently teaches high school English here in Austin.
